After Matt’s college soccer career ended, he was searching for a replacement not only for his competitive spirit, but also for high intensity workouts. Once completing his first on-ramp class, he was immediately “sold” on the CrossFit methods. As his CrossFit experience progressed, his lifestyle transformed. Matt has changed his diet and nutritional values, and has also learned a great deal about “checking ego at the door”. He believes CrossFit to be a very beneficial and humbling lifestyle, and is always blown away by the mental strength and power that CrossFit reveals – before and after WODs, but especially during them. CrossFit, especially here at Instinct, is such a close-knit and rewarding family, and as rewarding of a fitness experience as you can possibly have.
Matt played soccer, basketball and baseball throughout high school, and then soccer in college. He’s always had a love for fitness and high intensity training. Outside of CrossFit, Matt is a high school history teacher at Riverton, and is also the JV boys basketball coach and the varsity girls soccer coach. He loves to compete in CrossFit competitions and the CrossFit Games Open, and this has pushed him to focus more on technique, mobility, and nutrition. Matt has his BA in History and Secondary Education, and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in history.
